Peterhead remain top of the third division following a deserved victory over a well- organised Queens Park outfit.

Former Aberdeen striker, Scott Michie, fired the Blue Toon in front after only nine minutes. Martin Bavidge broke free on the left flank and crossed for Michie, who netted his ninth goal of the season from 10 yards.

But Queens Park were back on level terms within three minutes. David McCallum flighted the ball into the box from the left, and Alistair S Graham nodded the ball down to Frank Carroll who fired home from close range.

Bavidge had an excellent chance to restore Petershead's lead midway through the first half, but he fired straight at Queens Park keeper David Crawford.

The Queens Park keeper pulled off an excellent reaction save to deny Scott Robertson 10 minutes before the break. Bavidge slipped the ball through to Robertson, whose effort was touched behind for a corner.

Peterhead were inches away from taking the lead at the other end. Bavidge beat Crawford with a low effort, but the ball rebounded off the inside of the post and back into the keeper's arms.

A mistake by Peterhead goalie Paul Mathers almost gifted Queens a bizarre second half goal. The keeper failed to gather a long ball forward and was only saved by a last -ditch goal-line clearance from skipper Robbie Raeside.

Jamie Buchan won the match for Peterhead after 74 mintues with a low right-foot strike from the edge of the area.
