Four first-half goals from Airdrie proved decisive as they clinched a 4-2 win at bottom-club Peterhead.

The away side took the lead after just six minutes when Peterhead midfielder Neil McVitie put through his own net.

Peterhead striker Paul Tosh emphatically levelled after 22 minutes, scoring a great goal from 18 yards following good work from Stuart Smith.

But Airdrie midfielder Phil Johnston struck seven minutes later to ensure the away side were not pegged back for long.

Defender Jamie Bain scored from 20 yards to increase the visitors` lead three minutes later, before Scott Gemmill's long-range strike made it four on the verge of half-time.

Tosh grabbed his second of the game on the hour mark, finishing from 12 yards, but it ultimately proved to be no more than a consolation goal for the home side.
