Peterhead won this game against the side they could potentially meet in the play-offs with a 1-0 victory.
With both sides having secured their play-off berth there was little incentive for either side and this was apparent in the early exchanges and it took a full 11 minutes before the first chance which fell to Martin Bavidge but as he bore down on goal a saving tackle by Scott McCulloch cleared the danger.
It took Thistle until the 18th minute to threaten and even then Mark Roberts' 16-yard shot was easily saved by Paul Mathers.
Thistle continued to press for the opener and on 21 minutes Roberts was again unfortunate to see a looping header from eight yards saved.
As both sides continued to go through the motions the first half petered out.
However, the second half started with a bang with Peterhead taking the lead on 48 minutes when a Martin Wood corner was met by Bavidge and his headed knockdown found the left foot of Jamie Buchan and he rifled a volley that flew high into the roof of the net and almost took the net off its pegs.
This was one flash of inspiration in what was a turgid match.
Following on from this goal the game went back to how it had been with both sides trying but achieving very little.
Peterhead will go into the play-offs buoyed by this performance but for Thistle they have a lot of soul-searching to do if they are to achieve promotion.
