Any prospect of a shock Shire victory over promoted Peterhead faded as early as the third minute when Dougie Cameron picked his spot from 20 yards after a poor defensive clearance.
The situation got worse for Shire shortly afterwards when Graham McGhee failed to stop Martin Bavidge who scored with an angular drive from just outside the six yard box.
Shire had an opportunity to pull one back but unfortunately the chance fell to defender Stephen Oates who ballooned his finish well over the crossbar.
Things got worse for Shire when Johnny Walker was given a red card after incurring two yellows within the space of two minutes.
Just three minutes from the break an attempted from the home side hit Peterhead's Jamie Buchan and rebounded nicely into the path of Bavidge who collected his second of the afternoon from eight yards.
The one way traffic continued in the second half and Cameron turned provider when he set up his player manager Iain Stewart who had come on as a half-time substitute for the injured Scott Michie.
Peterhead's other substitute Allan Youngson completed the visitors scoring when he nicely beat two men inside the penalty box before beating the keeper with a well placed drive.
Shire showed a bit more spirit but by that time Peterhead had eased up, but they did get a consolation goal from a dead ball situation.
Substitute Jamie Mackay put his free kick over the heads of the Peterhead defenders and Derek Ure came in from the side to beat the goalkeeper with a left foot shot.
