Dumbarton shone as five different players were on the scoresheet in an emphatic 5-2 victory over Peterhead which leaves the bottom club with serious work to do if they are to avoid automatic relegation.
Jon McShane's confidently converted effort after 28 minutes put the home side ahead and Pat Walker then fired a left-footed shot into the top corner to make it 2-0 at the interval.
Wily forward Dennis Wyness' sharp finish on the hour mark hauled Peterhead back into the game but Jordan Halsman's perfectly-placed free-kick from 25 yards just minutes later restored Dumbarton's two-goal lead.
Mark Gilhaney dusted himself down to score from the penalty spot to make it 4-1 after being tumbled by Stirling Smith.
And although Peterhead substitute David Ross's thudding volley from 25 yards in the 81st minute reduced the deficit, Dumbarton sub Craig McLeish completed the scoring just a minute later with a tidy finish.
